“I live in New York, where all the best in the world is available, but I’m sure there isn’t another hospital where all of us: sons, daughters, granddaughters, grandsons, wife, in short, a big family, would have been so warmly welcomed and protected, for so long and with so much consideration. I know caring for Pelé is an honor but I also know that people don’t understand the debilitating pressure and demands that come with the privilege of caring for a king”, said Kely.
“At the moment when what none of us really believed would happen happened, at that moment when deep sadness mixed with the desperation to reach the closest family members before the news and the anxiety about what awaited us in the next moments, between drones and helicopters and cell phones that seemed to be alive and screaming, all of you from the other teams took on a position of protector not only of us and Pelé, but also of Edson’s spiritual and bodily integrity”, he added.
