He is a very important jazz artist, with an international footprint and participation in very large festivals around the world

After the two successful concerts in the Little Theater of Ancient Epidaurus in 2021, the Saturday, January 28at 21:00, o Petros Klabanistogether with an international lineup of great musicians, will present for the first time in Athens the sixth personal album of the “Tora Collective” in the historic concert hall of Philological Association “Parnassos”.

Internationally renowned bassist and composer Petros Klabanis, who looks to the past and the future as he experiments with traditional Greek music, following on from his acclaimed recent releases ‘Rooftop Stories’ and ‘Irrationalities’, creates one of his most inventive musical propositions to date. today under the title “Tora Collective”. A special group of musicians and sounds that bridge the Greek tradition and the world of modern jazz with the signature of Petros Klabanis (bass, artistic direction), Aretis Ketimes (vocals), Thomas Konstantinou (out, lute), Giorgos Kotsinis (clarinet), Kristjan Randalu (piano), Ziv Ravitz (drums, electronics) et al.

For Klabanis, who grew up in Zakynthos, a place surrounded by the musical traditions of the Mediterranean and the Balkans, creating music has always meant wandering through cultural crossroads. And with “Tora Collective” traditional Greek music is at the center of his creative search, through a modern, completely new personal prism.

Thus, Klabanis and his hybrid ensemble invite us on Saturday, January 28 to the Philological Association “Parnassos”, where they will perform popular Greek songs, such as “Xehorismata”, “Symbethera”, “Hariklaki” and “Menexedes and Zoumboulia” as well as compositions by the bassist that draw inspiration from the Greek tradition through a new, daring angle.
