Norway’s Grand Travel Awards: Greece Best Tourist Destination for 2023

As the Best Tourism Destination of 2023 (Best Tourism Destination 2023), Greece was named at the annual ceremony of the “Grand Travel Awards” (GTA), which took place on January 12 in Oslo, Norway.

It is the second year in a row that our country has received a top distinction in these awards, since in 2022 the EOT Service of Scandinavia was named the Best Foreign Tourist Office of the year 2022.

The GTAs have been organized continuously for 25 years by the trade magazine Reis and the same company’s website, Travel News, in Norway and Sweden, constituting the most important annual meeting of the industry in all sectors of the local tourism industry.

Receiving the award, the head of the EOT Service for Scandinavia & Baltic States, Pavlos Murmas, after expressing his satisfaction with the award and thanking, on behalf of the EOT and the General Secretary, Dimitris Fragakis, all those who voted for Greece, noted: “What is it that attracts Norwegians to our country? Is it only the sun and the sea, the endless sandy beaches, the gastronomy, the nature, the activities or the culture of the country with its scattered monuments and archaeological sites that turn it into an “open-air museum”? I believe that beyond these, the people and the traditional Greek hospitality are of particular importance to our guests. For this reason, I invite those Norwegians who have already visited us in previous years to visit us again this year, but also those who have not yet come to do so this year. I assure them that they may come as “guests” the first time, but be sure to return to Norway as our “friends”.
