Victim of sexual abuse in childhood, Marcelo Adnet decided to tell details of the violence he suffered at home when he was five. In an interview with podcast Podpah, the comedian revealed that he was saved by his grandfather before the criminal managed to go through with the rape. “The guy didn’t get inside because my grandfather arrived on time. He had forgotten his wallet and decided to go back. I was saved.”

Adnet assumed that the episode left marks such as shyness and distrust. He also said that he only brought the story up to serve as a warning to parents. “As it’s been 35 years since this happened, it’s something that was left behind, but you have to talk, you need to talk to make others aware. “Look… this exists, you know? You have to look like a child, really. You can’t go soft, no! You can’t trust, let go of the child, you have to stay on top.”

Having suffered from violence for many years, the comedian is in favor of sex education in schools. When questioned about young people’s misinformation regarding sex, Adnet revealed that he was afraid of having contracted a sexually transmitted disease with the abuse.

“At 12, I found out that Aids existed, and then I was like: I have Aids. Then, I said to my mother and father: But what if you put it in quickly, not stick it right, just start… You get Aids? My parents said that yes and I thought: My God, maybe I have AIDS”, recalled Marcelo Adnet, who is now the father of a two-year-old girl, Alice.

The fear of having contracted the disease ended up leading the comedian to tell his parents about the abuse. They didn’t know at the time. “I told them and they were shocked, like: ‘my God!’. The guy? Nobody knows where he is anymore. It’s been a long time”, concluded the actor on the subject.
