TV viewers will have the opportunity to enjoy the 3rd part of the trip to Albania by watching Happy Traveller, on Saturday 28 January at 17.45 on SKAI.
Our travelers drive parallel to the shores of the Ionian Sea opposite Corfu and visit historical sites and places of particular natural beauty as well as villages with a strong Greek element.
They descend from the Logaras pass and the Akrokeraunia Mountains and go to the village of Palasa and the village of Drymades, where they stay the night after a short walk on the beach.
Shortly after the village of Ilias, they go up the mountain to see the Holy Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi and to meet the abbot, Father Xenophon.
Next is Heimarra with its beautiful beaches, the many options for dining and the imposing castle where the old village is located perched on the rock.
They also see the historic Greek school “Homeros” and meet many Greek expatriates who live there.
After Heimarra, they continue south to Porto Palermo, a quiet bay with a small island-like peninsula on which stands the imposing castle of Ali Pasha.
And of course, they go inside to see the spacious rooms but also a dark dungeon.
The next stop on their journey is Kiparos where, in addition to walking, talking with locals and eating in the center of the village, they climb up to the old settlement which is perhaps the most beautiful and picturesque settlement of the entire area.
It is full of old mansions built on the side of the cliff and picturesque alleys that make you feel like you are in another era.
They then pass through Bors or Borsi, where they see the impressive castle on top of the hill, make a stop at Pikerni or Pikerasi, and finally reach Lukovo, which will be the last stop before the Forty Saints which we will see in the next episode.
