“About dreams” is the title of the chamber music concert of the State Orchestra of Athens, which will take place on February 6 at the Parnassos Philological Association.

Three strings – violin, viola and cello – interact with interpretations of works by eminent composers of the 20th century.

KOA musicians Vassilis Soukas (violin), Antilochos Tranos (viola) and Asterios Pouftis (cello), perform Nikos Skalkotas’ “String Trio No.2” and Zoltan Kondai’s “Intermezzo for String Trio”, works that carry the idiom of their composers, both deeply influenced by the traditional music of their homelands.

At the same time, Alfred Schnittke’s “String Trio” and Sofia Gubaidulina’s “String Trio”, dedicated to the memory of Boris Pasternak, represent the groundbreaking musical language of the second half of the 20th century.

“It is usually taken for granted that you dream of something that made a particularly strong impression on you during the day, but for me it seems to be the opposite” said the novel Doctor Zhivago by the Russian Nobel Prize-winning author Boris Pasternak.

“Often it is something that you did not pay attention to at the time—a vague thought that you did not bother to think until you had completed it, words spoken unconsciously and passed unnoticed—these are the things that return in the night, clothed in flesh and blood, and become the subject of dreams, as if recovering from having remained in ignorance during waking hours.’
