Janja Silva accepts invitation to be godmother to Imperatriz Leopoldinense

The first lady of Brazil, Janja Silva, accepted the invitation to be godmother to the old guard of Imperatriz Leopoldinense this Friday (3). President Lula’s partner invited the school’s management to a meeting at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, in Rio de Janeiro, in order to strengthen ties with the association. On that occasion, Janja accepted the invitation to be the godmother of the old-timers in green, white and gold, but her presence in the parade still depends on the official agenda.

Excited about the approach, the first lady spoke about the arrival of the festivities. “Take away my food, my water, but don’t take away my Carnival. We still don’t know how the commitments will be from now on, but I will do everything to be on the court, in Sapucaí and to know the City of Samba”, she said, in an official note .

The Carnival director of Imperatiz Leopoldinense, André Bonatte, thanked the meeting and the recognition of the programs developed by the association. “We are very happy for this meeting and for the possibility of talking a little about our people, our community. The Imperatriz’s social projects are funded by the school itself and having the recognition of the first lady is extremely rewarding”, he declared.

The first lady recently tightened ties with the school, after having her look criticized by youtuber Antonia Fontenelle, at Lula’s inauguration. Through the stories, Antonia compared Janja’s look to the Rio de Janeiro samba school. “This here is the Velha Guarda da Imperatriz Leopoldinense. Apathetic school, it doesn’t stink or smell. It’s the Imperatriz Leopoldinense”, said the youtuber.
