José Mayer remains hospitalized and his health is stable

Admitted last Friday (17) to Casa de Saúde São José, in Humaitá, in the south zone of Rio, José Mayer, 73, remains hospitalized. The actor’s advice was the one who released a medical bulletin this Monday (20) through an official note published on social networks. In the statement, the team says that the state of health is stable and that the artist follows the treatment protocol for an autoimmune disease. He has no discharge forecast.

We clarify that the actor is still hospitalized due to the extensive treatment protocol of the autoimmune disease that affected him. His health is stable and there is still no forecast for discharge. In 2017, the actor was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease known as Wegener’s granulomatosis, which causes inflammation of blood vessels in the kidneys, lungs and airways. Mayer was hospitalized at the end of February because he had alveolar bleeding in his lung. He underwent a CT scan, which showed no abnormalities, and concluded the treatment with infusion sessions. Four days later, the actor returned to the hospital for another stage of the procedure.

Recently, the actor revealed that he became ill because of the accusation of harassment against a Globo employee, during the soap opera “A Lei do Amor” six years ago. Mayer was fired from the broadcaster with more than 35 years at home and acknowledged that the recent hospitalization was a “recurrence” of the autoimmune disease. “Those events brought me a health problem and also led me to cancel my career after 49 years of hard work, with only one year left to celebrate my 50 years of work as an actor.
