Soccer player Daniel Alves wrote a letter to his wife, Joana Sanz, directly from prison. Accused of sexual assault, Alves is still imprisoned in the Brians 2 penitentiary center, in Spain, and took the opportunity to ask for forgiveness for what happened. The document was obtained, exclusively, by the program “Y ahora Sonsoles”, on the Spanish channel Antena 3.

In the text, the side makes an outburst about the end of the couple. Last week, Joana announced, in a letter published on her official Instagram account, that the two ended their eight-year relationship. “You and my children, Dani Filho and Victoria, were the best things that happened in my life”, says Daniel, in an excerpt.

In addition, he reinforces that he will do everything for the marriage to resume. “I will continue to fight as I always have, believing in myself with the support and trust of those who really know who I am: I will fight until the end with the unconditional love of my children, my parents and those who remain by my side, to soon prove my innocence to the whole world,” he writes.

“My dear Joana. It’s been almost 8 years of much love, affection, respect and mutual care.

Especially in the last few years with you everything seems easier and more enjoyable. You and my children, Dani Filho and Victoria, were the best things that happened in my life.

Together we grew up from the day we met. From the first minute, we started a life together. We followed each other all these years. Strengthening each other and spoiling each other’s lives. Now, in these difficult times, I regret your decision and look forward to life giving us another chance to love you again.

I understand the pain that the unfair situation we are experiencing is causing and I understand that you were not able to withstand all that pressure. The facts of which I am accused are foreign to me and to the values that have guided my life: love, respect and effort.

I will continue fighting as I always have, believing in myself with the support and trust of those who really know who I am: I will fight until the end with the unconditional love of my children, my parents and those who remain by my side, for soon prove my innocence to the whole world.

Wherever you are. As you are. Will always be in my heart.

With love.

Dani Alves.”
