Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco broke their silence and answered the rumors that they want to divorce after 12 years of marriage. Monaco’s princely couple have officially denied “malicious rumours” that they are splitting up.

The 44-year-old Olympic swimmer met Prince Albert at a sporting event in 2007 and the couple announced their engagement in 2010.

Princess Charlene was absent from Monaco for an extended period in 2021 as she received medical treatment in her native South Africa and was admitted to a Swiss clinic for exhaustion upon her return.

The princess has now fully returned to her duties and public appearances, but French magazine ‘Royauté’ has claimed the couple are in the process of separating.

The Palace press office said they “officially deny the malicious rumors circulated by the magazine”.

As the spokesman said: “I would like to formally refute the malicious rumors circulated by the French magazine Royauté. Please disregard this article, which is completely baseless.”

The rumor gained momentum when the article was reposted by various websites, sparking speculation on social media.

The royal couple married in July 2011 and had two children together in 2014, eight-year-old twins Zach and Gabriella.

The twins also have two half-siblings Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, who was born in 1992, to real estate agent Tamara Rotolo. She was identified as Prince Albert’s daughter in 2006, when she was almost 16 years old.

In 2005 the prince also confirmed that he is the biological father of Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste, born in 2003, whose mother is Nicole Coste, a former Air France flight attendant.

Despite divorce rumours, Prince Albert has confirmed they will both attend King Charles’ coronation in May.
