The famous choreographer Joaquin Cortes has been discharged from the Madrid hospital where he had been admitted for a week after losing consciousness while playing with his children. By his side was his wife, Monica: “They started doing tests on me, something surreal. I came with the flu and almost died, but the important thing is that we are here,” he revealed.

The 54-year-old choreographer reported arriving at the emergency room with very low oxygen saturation. However, what hurt him the most was the absence of his children while he was in the hospital and the fact that he could not see them.

He informed about his health adventure from the first moment, with posts on Instagram, apologizing for canceling his appearances.

The choreographer, among other things, had written: “I am undergoing cardiac, neurological and pulmonary examinations. I’m on antibiotics and oxygen,” explaining the symptoms a few days after the severe episode. “Weeks ago I started feeling really bad. I had a cough, fatigue and headache. I have had several medical tests and more will be done. I went to the emergency room thinking I had the flu and I almost died, but luckily I’m still here,” revealed Joaquin Cortes.

Doctors speculate that a bacteria may have caused the illness, so he was given antibiotics, but tests will continue to find the cause.

“I have never smoked. I’m a high-level athlete, I’ve always had a bit of alcohol,” the dancer told reporters as he left the hospital. “We still don’t have the diagnosis,” he added. Joaquin Cortes thanked the doctors who treated him and for the fact that he was treated in a public hospital: “We have wonderful public health, many countries envy us.”
