David Beckham exposes OCD and cleanliness in new Netflix series

by

Former English football player David Beckham, 47, has suffered from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder since the early 2000s, when he was still playing football. And all this issue he goes through will be recorded in a new Netflix series, still without a premiere date.

Some scenes from the project have already been shown at an event in London and, according to El País, the former athlete reveals how his compulsion for cleanliness makes him sleep a few hours a night.

“Once everyone is in bed, I go around the house, clean out any used candles, flip the switches so they line up nicely, and make sure everything is tidy,” he says.

At another point in the series, he appears arguing with his wife, Victoria, about how the two deal with tidying up.

“I clean the kitchen very well, I don’t think my wife appreciates that much, really”, he comments to the cameras. “It’s so perfect,” replies the wife. He reveals that living with this disorder is not easy. “I hate going down in the morning and having dirty cups and plates. And it’s exhausting going through each candle and having to clean it. I cut the candle wax, clean the glass. That’s my phobia, having a stain inside the candle. I know, yeah strange.”

According to the publication, the Englishman should receive the equivalent of R$ 99 million to star in the series about his intimate life. The episodes will feature unpublished archives, untold stories and interviews with the people who were part of the sportsman’s journey.
