On June 7th its events will begin Festival In the Shadow of the Rocks which is organized by the Intermunicipal Culture Network of the Municipalities of Byron and Dafni Ymitto and will last until September 30.

The festival that has become synonymous with summer entertainment, this year is dedicated to the late Dimitris Nikolaidis, Mayor of Byron for 16 years, who indelibly associated his name with the claim of the former Ergani quarries. He pioneered the creation of the Theater of Rocks and the sports grounds on the hill of Kopanas. During his tenure he implemented the vision of the international dance community, which involved the establishment of the Dance Study Center at the Duncan home in Byron.

This year’s festival is inspired by the pioneering self-governing and gives a step to contemporary dance, presenting a three-day ‘festival within the festival’. In addition, young choreographers as well as the students of the Isidora and Raimondos Duncan Center for the Study of Contemporary Dance will present their work in an evening dedicated to his memory.

In its continuous creative process, the In the Shadow of the Rocks Festival, with its rich multi-collective program, is a point of reference on the artistic map of the Attica basin and a unique meeting of people who believe in the power of culture.

There will be concerts of Greek and foreign music, theater performances, but also performances of theater workshops that highlight the importance of amateur creation in our everyday life.

It has a special place three-day festival Dance In the Shadow of the Rocks which is carried out with the synergy of the Municipalities of Byron and Dafni Ymittos, the support of the Duncan Dance Center and the financial support of the Region of Attica. Six contemporary dance works, each at different stages of their creation and in their own way, have been associated with the Duncan Center over the last year.

From June 7th to September 30th we make an appointment at the Theater of the Rocks to enjoy and enjoy our own favorite festival, the Festival In the Shadow of the Rocks.
