Youngest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Tallulah Willis, 29, told about the Hollywood star’s routine after the diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a set of brain disorders that cause changes in personality, behavior and lead to difficulty understanding and speech production. The protagonist of the “Die Hard” franchise discovered the disease at the beginning of last year.
A fashion designer, Tallulah acknowledged that it was very difficult for her to accept her father’s illness. “I’m teetering between the present and the past when I talk about Bruce: he is, he was, he is, he was. That’s because I have hopes for my dad that I’m loath to give up. He was nice and charming and elegant and sweet and a little crazy – and I embrace all of that,” he revealed in an interview with Vogue magazine. She was thrilled. “He still knows who I am and lights up when I walk into the room.”
In the publication, Tallulah recalled the first signs of the disease, which the family announced was initially with aphasia. “I knew something was wrong for a long time. It started with a kind of vague indifference, which the family attributed to hearing loss brought on by working in Hollywood. Later, this lack of response increased and sometimes I took it personally. He had two babies with my stepmom, Emma Heming, and I thought he had lost interest in me.”
Over the last few months, whenever she visits her father, Tallulah tries to document the time by recording everything in photos and voice messages. “I’m like an archaeologist, looking for treasure in things I’ve never paid much attention to,” she said. “I guess I’m trying to document it, build a record for the day he’s not there to remember him and us,” she said.
She then went on: “I know the trials are coming, that this is the beginning of grief, but this whole loving yourself before loving someone else thing — it’s real.” Bruce Willis has three daughters with Demi Moore (Rumer, Scout and Tallulah) and two with current wife Emma (Mabel and Evelyn).
