Amber Heard eventually paid $1 million after the guilty verdict in her trial with Johnny Depp. For his part, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor has pledged to distribute the money to five of his favorite charities.

Heard, who will return to the big screen as she stars in the film ‘In The Fire’, had claimed she was a victim of domestic violence during her marriage to Depp.

Last June, the 56-year-old actor won the lawsuit and the amount of $10.35 million. His legal team successfully argued that Heard’s article in the Washington Post was defamatory.

Although Heard did not publicly name Depp in the article, given their position and visibility, it was obvious who she was referring to in regards to her alleged history of abuse. After much negotiation, the former couple reached this deal, with their legal teams in touch throughout.

About six months after one of Hollywood’s most “bitter” and high-profile divorces, TMZ reports that Depp has finally received $1 million from Amber Heard’s insurance company. The five non-profit organizations that the actor will choose to donate the money to are: The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society and Amazonia Fund Alliance.

The actor has always stated in his interviews and in court that he was not trying to get money from his ex-wife, but to “clear” his name and reputation.
