The new Biarritz International Film Festival opens its gates in spectacular fashion. The newly established Film Festival welcomes her Penelope Cruz as the guest of honor and will screen the film “On the Fringe” in which the Spanish actress stars and is also a producer.

The film collected several nominations for Goya awards – the Spanish version of the Oscars -, including for Cruz’s performance.

The International Film Festival’s commitment is to uncover the next generation’s cinematic talents through a series of films dedicated to youth narratives and a sense of urgency.

The Film Festival in the French seaside resort runs from today until July 2 under the direction of its founder, Jerome Poulis, former director of international communications for Christian Dior Parfums.

Penelope Cruz will participate in a discussion after the screening of the film, whose story revolves around the intertwined stories of people on the verge of losing their homes.

The international competition section of the Festival features eight feature films directed by promising or established directors and the program includes meetings with representatives of the film industry, discussions and workshops with great filmmakers.
