THE Harrison Ford he is happy that he was the second choice for the film “Indiana Jones”. The actor recalled when he auditioned for the lead role in the iconic film franchise and admitted he wasn’t the first choice.

The studio officials first turned to Tom Selleck. “How did I get the job? Tom Selleck had the part, but he also had an obligation to make a TV series and he couldn’t break the contract,” said Harrison Ford during a discussion.

“I was second choice and I’m very grateful for Tom. Thanks, Tom, mate. If you’re listening, thank you again,” he emphasized. At the time, Tom Selleck was starring in the ‘Magnum PI’ series.

Except from SelectHarrison Ford also wanted to thank him George Lucas. The two had already worked together on “Star Wars” when the director sent the actor a script to read.

“He said, ‘I want you to read it now, I want you to read it in an hour.’ I sat down, read it in an hour, and he said, “I want you to go to his house Steven Spielberg and talk to him,'” the actor said. “I went to Steven Spielberg’s house, I had never met Steven Spielberg before. I guess about an hour later I had the part,” he explained.

The new film in the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny film series will begin showing in theaters on Friday.
