The defendant allegedly did not inform his ex-partner even though he already knew from the year 2003-2004 that he was a carrier of the infectious disease
On trial before Mixed Jury Court of the district of the Dodecanese Court of Appeal, a 41-year-old man was referred by the will of the Council of Misdemeanors of Rhodes AIDS carrier accused, after a 50-year-old woman sued his former partnerfor grievous bodily harm against a partner, according to a publication of dimokratiki.gr
The defendant is alleged in particular that while he already knew from the year 2003-2004 that he was a carrier of the infectious disease, he nevertheless never informed his ex-partner.
As the “democratic” reports, the 50-year-old reported on August 24, 2022, to the Rhodes Security Directorate, that he intentionally transmitted the disease to her. She also testified that he was abusive and vindictive.
The case has taken on unimaginable proportions as the 41-year-old man has been brought to trial before the Joint Jury of Kos, accused of continuous rape, continuous abuse of a minor under the age of 12, and serial and continuous bodily harm to vulnerable persons. continuation, offenses allegedly committed in Rhodes during the years 2018 up to and including February 2020.
The HIV-positive man has been convicted in the past for an identical case.
As the 50-year-old claimed, during their cohabitation he wanted to provide her with a life that he himself could not support financially, which is why he decided to open a neighborhood store which she took control of.
As he said, a year and a half after its operation he discovered that the business had debts of 25,000 euros and from that day the problems between them started.
Afterwards, he said that the plaintiff left the shared home and sent him an extrajudicial statement in which she informed him that she no longer wished to have any contact with him.
When he told her that he didn’t want them to have any more contact and that she would have to pay the store’s debts as well, she started the story against him and started accusing him of giving her AIDS without her knowledge and that she was going to sue him for all that she went through with him.
As he claims, while he had informed her about his health problem from the first moment, she maintains that she knew nothing.
It is noted that when the accused was asked by the Investigator about messages he sent to his ex-partner with the phrases “You will pay, be sure. Welcome to the new world. Don’t bother me again, now you’re hurting just like me”, “When you’ll understand, it’ll be too late, but I’ll be laughing at the end”, “You’ve got a big Golgotha, you’ll have something different”, “Now we’ll both have to cry . Like it or not, it’s too late now. God is very unfair”, “It will not be my fault.
You and I have a great Calvary ahead of you. You will take me again, only when you tell me “we have a big Golgotha, you were right”, he admitted that he sent them, claiming that he did it in his panic, after they broke up.
He claims that by “welcome to the new world” he meant the financial obligations he would be forced to take on and that he was receiving psychiatric treatment at the time and was under the influence.
Lawyer Mrs. Maria Karaolani appears as his defense counsel and Mrs. Maria Krikopoulou as defense counsel for the prosecution.
