Fafá de Belém prohibits granddaughters from dancing funk: ‘It bothers me’

by

Fafá de Belém became a topic among funk fans in the last few hours. The singer said in an interview that she forbade her granddaughters to sing and dance to funk music, after seeing them doing some choreography. She vented: “It bothers me. The other day, my granddaughter was dancing at the house and I said: ‘no, that’s not cool. You’re seven years old and you don’t know what signals you’re sending with your body'”.

Interpreter of “Nuvem de Lágrima” and “Vermelho” added that the girl, daughter of influencer Mariana Belém, wanted to know the reason. “He said that there were many bad people in the world and that sometimes, without realizing it, you send a signal that a crazy person can misinterpret. It’s dangerous”, commented the singer during the interview with Vênus PodCast.

She also criticized the terms used in funk lyrics. “The terms are vulgar to talk to a young child. What is that? The child is innocent, he doesn’t know the power that his body has”, said the grandmother of two girls, Laura and Júlia, remembering that “there are many bad people -intentioned in the world”.

Fafá even expressed his disapproval of the hypersexualization of female bodies, especially younger women. “It is extremely delicate to present certain sexist funk things to our children. Our girls thinking that empowerment is in serving men. This is promoting the most sordid sexism, vulgarity, women being treated as objects”.
