The protagonist of the long-awaited “Oppenheimer” Emily Blunt revealed the ‘exhausting’ weight loss effort Cillian Murphy went on to play the ‘father of the atomic bomb’.

Speaking to Extra about Murphy’s radical transformation, he revealed that “he ate only one almond a day. He was so thin,” said Bland, who plays his wife Kathryn Oppenheimer in the film.

It is noted that the Irish actor has previously detailed the extremes he went to in order to play the famous theoretical physicist who played a central role in the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II. Speaking to the New York Times, among others, he explained that five months before filming he began to prepare both physically and psychologically for the role.

“I love playing with my body and Oppenheimer had a very distinct figure that I wanted to get right. I had to lose a lot of weight…he was very thin, almost bony. He lived on martinis and cigarettes. He had these really bright eyes and I wanted to give him that look, so we worked a lot on his body and expressions before we started,” Murphy said without revealing how much weight he lost for the role.

According to the Daily Mail, the world premiere of “Oppenheimer”, directed by Christopher Nolan, is expected on July 21.
