Elafonissos constantly wins over nature lovers. International media praise the island for its picturesqueness and ecological value.

Specifically, after the British edition of National Geographic, it was the turn of the Spanish edition of the same magazine to place the beach of Simos in Elafonisos among the best beaches in Europe.

As the magazine wrote, “the Peloponnese was chosen as the best beach destination in Europe at the World Travel Awards. The beach of Simos, on the small island of Elafonisos, is a good example of the award it deserved. Its fine white sand with endemic vegetation and the intense blue of the sea have made it one of the most famous of the Peloponnese.”

Just a little while ago, the British National Geographic included the picturesque island in the new list of the 25 best islands in Greece that are recommended as the best destination for the summer of 2023, as they offer many surprises to visitors. The news of the proposed vacation spots also got publicity in Greece, a few days after the departure from the island of Prince Albert, who declared himself fascinated and promised to visit Elafonisos again.

It is noted that the promotion of hitherto unknown regions of our country has created strong interest among Spanish tourists to visit Greece, while the number of Spanish tourists who visited our country last year exceeded by 20% the corresponding number in 2019.

“We inspire the visitors, we win the markets”, declares the mayor, Efi Liarou, and adds: “We work tirelessly to give our island the tourist dimension it deserves. And always in the context of a balanced development, something that has already been recognized in Greece and abroad”.
