Silvero Pereira appears as Maniac from the Park in the first image of the film

The film about the murderer Francisco de Assis Pereira, known as Maníaco do Parque, won its first official image released by Prime Video. Chosen as the protagonist, actor Silvero Pereira appears dressed as the protagonist during his arrest.

Directed by Maurício Eça and produced by Marcelo Braga, the plot takes place during the World Cup in France in 1998. It addresses how Francisco, in his spare time as a motorcycle courier, used to roam the streets of São Paulo to commit your crimes.

The Park Maniac was arrested after attacking 21 women and murdering ten of them. His nickname is due to the fact that he committed the homicides in the forest of Parque do Estado, in the Ipiranga neighborhood, where he also hid the bodies of the victims. The case terrorized the capital of São Paulo in the late 1990s.

In addition to Silvero, the cast of the film includes singer Xamã and actors Bruno Garcia, Mel Lisboa and Giovanna Grigio. Also scheduled for the Amazon streaming service is the release of the documentary “The Maniac in the Park: The Untold Story”, which addresses the killer’s case from the perspective of the surviving victims.

Between 1997 and 1998, Francis lured a number of women, often by promising employment or modeling opportunities, to isolated areas where he assaulted, raped and murdered them. In late 1998, he was arrested following a police investigation that involved phone tracing and surveillance. Four years later, he was sentenced to more than 280 years in prison for the crimes.
