The model and influencer Maju de Araújo, a reference in the fight for the inclusion of people with Down syndrome in fashion, received several harassment comments in one of her last posts. Last Sunday (27), her mother, Adriana, published a note of repudiation.
The businesswoman said that, after years of shielding her daughter against negative comments, she reached her limit. “It’s been years dealing with these problems and developing formulas and miracles so that Maju feels welcomed in society. With a lot of effort we managed to occupy spaces, but no matter how far we get, there will always be hatred and evil from other people”, she vented.
“This is not just the internet, these are not fake profiles. This is our reality and these are real people, with real intentions”, said Adriana. Following the video, she exposed some of the messages, which are sexual in nature or offend the influencer due to her syndrome.
The businesswoman said she will take action to punish the authors of the comments: “We will take all appropriate measures to denounce and punish this type of action and we will fight for the rights of protection and respect that, not only people with disabilities, but all people have” .
