The beloved actor passed away Spyros Fokas, at the age of 86. The news of his death was announced by his wife, Lilian Foka, on her Facebook page. In fact, his wife accompanied her post with the song of Giorgos Zambetas, “Ta deilina”.
Spyros Androutsopoulos (Patra, August 17, 1937), artistically known as Spyros Fokas, was a Greek actor with an important career abroad as he had played in films such as “Rocco and his Brothers”, by Luchino Visconti and “The Diamond of the Nile”.
His father was a travel agent and his mother came from Corfu. The Fokas family came to Athens when the actor was 9 years old.
He graduated from Kostis Michaelidis School of Drama. He lived and worked for many years in America, but returned to Greece.
He was married four times, with his first marriage taking place when he was 21 and the last when he was 76. According to his statements, he never had children, because he did not like the world he lived in and therefore did not wish to force any child to live in this world.
