Nicki Minaj talked about her life as a mother on the new cover of Vogue magazine. The rapper “welcomed” her son – whose name she has yet to reveal – with husband Kenneth Petty on September 30, 2020.
Nicki, 40, posed for the photo shoot with her three-year-old son, who she revealed she nicknamed him ‘Papa Bear’. She said of her son in the interview: “My son is very good. I look at his face and my whole soul lights up. You know that feeling when you unlock one of life’s secrets? For me, the idea of accepting what you can’t change had never clicked with me.“, explained.
And he continued:You want to be in control, but that’s the easiest way to be unhappy. So now, if I find myself trying to control everything, I try to remember what’s really important».
Her husband, Kenneth Petty, knew her before she was famous. The couple married in 2019, but had been together since high school. He grew up a few blocks away in Queens, New York.
She told the magazine that communication with her husband is easier as they have known each other for many years. Kenneth and Nicki lost touch for years and reconnected in 2018. They first met at ‘LaGuardia’ High School and briefly dated as teenagers. Kenneth was charged with the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995, for which he was sentenced to four years in prison.
