Denzel Washington teams up once again with ‘Training Day’ and ‘Equalizer’ director Antoine Fuqua to play Carthaginian general Hannibal in a Netflix movie.

The film’s script, according to Variety, will be written by John Logan, a three-time Oscar-winning screenwriter known for Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator.

According to the official synopsis, the film “is based on the true story of Hannibal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest soldiers in history. The film covers the pivotal battles he led against the Roman Republic during the Second Carthaginian War».

Denzel Washington will produce the film alongside Eric Olsen, Adam Goldworm and Antoine Fuqua through Hill District Media’s first deal with Netflix.

Fuqua recently directed Washington in the action thriller “The Equalizer 3,” in which the actor reprized his role as ex-Marine Robert McCall.
