Emma Heming admitted to feeling guilty about having certain privileges to support her husband’s dementia diagnosis; Bruce Williswhich others – in similar situations – may not have access to.
“I struggle with guilt, knowing that I have resources that others don’tHeming wrote in an article for Marie Shriver’s Sunday Paper.
“When I can go for a hike to clear my mind, it doesn’t escape me that not all care partners can do that“, explained.

“When what I share about our family’s journey gets the attention of the press, I know there are many thousands of untold stories, each deserving of compassion and interest. I want people to know that when I hear from another family affected by FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia), I hear our family’s same story of grief, loss and overwhelming sadness reflected in theirs».
Heming, who has two daughters with the famous actor, added that she has realized the importance of being an “advocate” for “families who don’t have the time, energy or resources to advocate for themselves.”
She also said that speaking out about Bruce’s diagnosis has helped her and her family in many ways.

“I have much more hope today than I did after my husband’s first diagnosis,” Heming wrote, adding: “I now understand this disease better and am now connected to an incredible community of support.
