British comedian Russell Brand, accused of rape and sexual assault by several women, was questioned by London police about sexual crimes committed years ago, The Times newspaper reported this Sunday (19).
Police in the British capital only confirmed that a man “around forty years old” was questioned last Thursday (16) at a police headquarters in south London for “three non-recent sexual crimes”. “The investigation continues,” Scotland Yard said.
After the first accusations against the comedian were made public, which he denies, police in the British capital encouraged potential victims to come forward.
In September, the Sunday Times newspaper and the Channel 4 television network revealed four women’s accusations against him, one for rape and the other for sexual assault and psychological violence.
London police previously indicated that they had received “a number of allegations” of sexual assault, relating to “not recent” events. Brand is also the subject of a complaint filed last month in New York for alleged sexual assault in 2010 while filming a feature film.
