In serious condition, Claudia Alencar is sedated after her health worsens

Claudia Alencar, a 73-year-old actress, underwent surgery this Sunday morning (24) and, due to the procedure and the worsening of her health in the last 24 hours, she will remain sedated in a hospital in Rio de Janeiro. The information was confirmed by the actress’s press office to F5.

Alencar underwent a reassessment of her condition and doctors said they had identified “findings compatible with septicemia and hemodynamic instability.” Therefore, she remains sedated, on mechanical ventilation and using antibiotics.

Septicemia is a widespread infection that leads to a drop in blood pressure, an increase in heart rate and the need for mechanical ventilation. The condition requires admission to the ICU, use of broad-spectrum antibiotics and drugs to maintain blood pressure, keeping the individual alive until the body responds to the antibiotic.

The actress has been hospitalized since last Sunday (17) at the intensive care center at Clínica São Vicente. According to her son, Yann Hatchuel, the artist had been diagnosed with a bacterial infection.

Claudia Alencar has been away from television since 2017, when she briefly participated in the Globo soap opera “Rock Story”. She acted in “Tieta” (1989) and “Fera Ferida” (1993), also on the network, and is scheduled to work on “Beleza Fatal”, the first soap opera produced by HBO Max.
