Panathinaikos AKTOR left Patras with the absolute best and ended the week perfectly!

by

Located in Patras, Panathinaikos AKTOR continued with the absolute best Stoiximan Basket League! Ergin Ataman’s team may have struggled in the first half against Prometheus, but with a defense from Milan in the second half, prevailed 69-54made the “11/11” in the league and closed dreamily the difficult week of three away games.

Great protagonist for the “greens” o Juancho Hernangomet who scored 13 points and Kendrick Nunn with 15, while an excellent match was played by Panagiotis Kalaitzakis who finished the match with 12 points. Costas Antetokounmpo continued his very good performances, who “made up” for the absence of Matias Lessor, having 10 points.

On the other side, great match from Coffee who double-doubled (18 points-20 rebounds) was the MVP of Prometheus and the match, with Cowan finishing with 13 points.

The match:

With the five of Reynolds, Cowan, Bazina, Chrysikopoulos, Stevens, Prometheus entered the pitch, at the moment when Panathinaikos AKTOR lined up with Kalaitzakis, Slouka, Grant, Mitoglou, Antetokounmpo.

Ergin Ataman’s team opened the scoring with a lay-up by Costa Antetokounmpo with Bazina responding immediately bringing the match to 2-2. The two teams were particularly misguided with Reynolds on the one hand and Grant on the other finding iron behind 6.75 and Mitoglou-Kalaitzakis giving Panathinaikos AKTOR (4-8) a lead of two possessions. Reynolds and Mitoglou had a mini scoring contest with the American coming out victorious and reducing the basket (8-6) and the first quarter ending with the “greens” finding scores thanks to Sluka’s four assists and the Antetokounmpo’s executive ability. Coffey and Cowan, however, had not said their last word and Prometheus found himself in front with the nailing of the former (14-13). The first period ended with Nan’s missed 3-pointer that found a crazy basket earlier for 15-18.

Prometheus’ dynamic start in the second quarter with Panathinaikos executing directly with Balcherovski making it 20-17. Nan took over the match at that point, with Ataman throwing in Hernangomet-Vildosa as well, who teamed up perfectly for a 24-17 win for the visitors. However, Papatheodorou’s team, with Coffey and Cowan as protagonists, came back from -8 down to a point for 27-28. Sloukas and Grant team up and the American scores for 31-34 at halftime.

With the buzzer beater of Panagiotis Kalaitzakis and the three-pointer of Kostas Sloukas, the second half began in Patras with the score going to +8 (31-39). Cowan’s shots cut the lead to six for Prometheus with Nunn hitting again for three and then making a fantastic tap to Cowan to make it 35-42 for Ataman’s side. The hosts found a score with the outstanding American when Coffey on the rebound stole the ball, won shots and hit for 39-45. The last minutes of the third period were quite sluggish in terms of scoring with Panathinaikos AKTOR finding Balcherovski and Kalaitzakis for the basket for 42-49. The hosts took advantage of Prometheus’ offensive dystocia and with a three-pointer by Juancho and a basket by the Spaniard they went to +10 for the first time at the end of the 3rd period, (44-54).

Particularly misguided at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the two teams were tied at 44-54 for almost two minutes. It took a well-aimed shot by Hernangometh about three minutes into the game to break the pomegranate. (44-55). Papatheodorou’s team had a big problem in scoring with Cowan solving the problem by reducing the difference to nine and Sluka restoring it with two well-placed shots (46-57). The Patrinos continued in the same pattern with Coffey and Cowan finding scores and Panathinaikos AKTOR finally leaving Patras victorious, with a score of 54-69 with Kalaitzakis finding the last three-pointer of the match.
