Speaking on Josh Horowitz’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, legendary actor Gary Oldman admitted that his performance as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter franchise was ‘mediocre’.

It should be noted that he made his debut in 2004 in the film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” while also appearing in “The Goblet of Fire”, “The Order of the Phoenix” and “The Deathly Hallows: Part Two”.

I think my work is average in these films. I really believe it. Maybe if I had read the books like Alan (Rickman) did, if I knew what was going to happen, I honestly think I would have played Black differently“, Oldman said while stressing that he is his own strictest judge.

If I sat and saw myself in something and said, “Oh my God, I’m amazing, that would be a very sad day, because you want to make the next thing better.”“, explains the actor.

Earlier this month, Oldman told The Drew Barrymore Show that his roles in the Harry Potter and Batman movies “saved” him when he was raising his sons on his own.
