A historic estate in the famous Montecito in Santa Barbara was bought by the Hollywood star Zoe Saldana for 17.5 million dollars, as reported by the Robb Report website.

Built in 1930 the main house, overlooking the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean bears the signature of the architect George Washington Smith.

Three years after his death in 1933, Santa Barbara’s first female architect, Lutah Maria Riggs, undertook the expansion of the house, and today 90 years later, it still retains elements of the past such as the light fixtures, the wooden floors, the long corridors , the ornate ceilings and large windows. The Spanish Renaissance-style mansion has, among other things, five bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

According to the publication, the property, which has been in the same family for several decades, was first put on the market last December for $18.9 million. It is surrounded by an estate of about 20 acres with lush gardens and dozens of century-old oaks, between a tennis court and a large oval swimming pool. It also has an ocean-view guest house, an art studio and a staff apartment.

The famous actress and her husband Marco Perego also own a luxury estate “perched” in the mountains above Beverly Hills.
