Upset over pay and fearful of rapidly developing artificial intelligence technology, Hollywood actors joined the screenwriters in July. Writers had gone on strike in May over similar concerns. It was the first time since 1960, when Ronald Reagan was the head of the actors’ union and Marilyn Monroe was still in films, that actors and writers went on strike together. After a grueling 118-day strike, Hollywood actors’ union SAG-AFTRA has reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract with studios, marking the end of their strike.

The actors Kevin Spacey and Gwyneth Paltrow and singer Ed Sheeran they are among the famous artists who sat in the defendant’s dock this year. Kevin Spacey was found not guilty of all the charges he was facing at his trial in London. The artist was on trial for sexual assaults against four men. Gwyneth Paltrow was also acquitted of a 2016 skiing accident involving her accuser, a 76-year-old retired optician.

A court has ruled in favor of Ed Sheeran regarding the lawsuit against the songwriter over the copyright of his song “Thinking Out Loud”. The plaintiff had alleged that Ed Sheeran’s song infringed the copyright of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On.” The verdict came six years after the heirs of Ed Townsend – who co-wrote the song in 1973 with Gaye – filed a lawsuit against Sheeran, claiming the two tracks have “striking similarities”.

Additionally, New Mexico prosecutors said they plan to re-charge actor Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the fatal injury of then-42-year-old cinematographer Halina Hutchins on the set of “Rust” two years ago.
