American comedian Jack Black has joined the cast of the film adaptation of the popular video game series “Minecraft”, according to Deadline.

In the new production from Warner Bros. and Legendary, as already announced, Jason Momoa will lead the cast along with Emma Myers, “The Color Purple” star Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.

Filming is expected to begin immediately in New Zealand, directed by Jared Hess, who worked with Black in the 2006 comedy Nacho Libre.

For now, no other details about the film have been released.

It is noted that “Minecraft” is one of the most successful video games of all time, counting over 140 million active users on a monthly basis. It debuted in 2011 by the Swedish company Mojang Studios, which in 2014 was acquired by Microsoft.

The film is expected to hit theaters on April 4, 2025.
