Taylor Swift threatens to sue college student who tracks her flight path

by

Taylor Swift has fans eager for any news about her life, but one of them is being threatened by the singer’s legal team.

Jack Sweeney is a student at the University of Central Florida and runs a social media account that tracks celebrity plane and helicopter takeoffs and landings.

According to the American newspaper Washington Post, Katie Wright Morrone, one of Taylor’s lawyers, sent a letter to the man requesting that the tracking of the singer’s path be stopped.

The document further states that the singer “would have no choice but to pursue any and all legal recourse if the stalking and harassing behavior did not stop.” According to Katie, Sweeney’s posts caused Swift and her family irreparable harm and emotional and physical suffering out of constant fear for their personal safety.

Along with the route, the young man also published estimates of vehicle pollution emissions. The newspaper states that the data is public and available from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The lawyer also wrote that, although the account is a game for the university student or a way to bring him fame, for Taylor it is a matter of life and death. “There is no legitimate public interest or need for this information other than to stalk, harass and exercise dominance and control.”

“Her team thinks they can control the world,” Jack Sweeney told the Post. He said the letter is a way to scare him and that the posts only offer an outline of which cities Swift might be in. He also said that the communication occurred at a time when Taylor was facing criticism about the environmental impact of his flights.
