Maisie Williams talked about the efforts she made for her role as Catherine Dior in the upcoming Apple TV+ drama ‘The New Look’.
The 22-year-old actress, who packed up her entire life and moved to Paris for the role, detailed the grueling efforts she went through to “get” the role, including eating very little and waking up at 4 a.m. morning after only three hours of sleep.

Based on true events, Todd Kessler’s series follows Dior’s early career in Nazi-occupied Paris, exploring how he and several other French designers launched modern fashion amid the horrors of World War II.
The series follows the extraordinary stories of the designer’s colleagues and rivals, from Coco Chanel and Pierre Balmain to Cristóbal Balenciaga and more, and provides a fascinating look at the atelier, designs and clothes Dior created at the famous house.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Maisie said: “It was a big job and it was amazing. My whole life was transferred to Paris. It was hard work, but it was a great honor for me to take on this role.”

Game Of Thrones’ Arya Stark also noted: “The process of doing one shot after another kind of breaks down your character. It’s not for everyone, but for me, I like to get lost in a role and keep pushing until we get a scene done.”
The actress revealed the rigorous schedule she followed to realistically portray Catherine Dior’s slimmed-down look when she returned to Paris after World War II.

“I was eating very little, meditating, burning candles and incense in my apartment. I had to wake up at 4am to start sweating. The night before, around 7 or 8 in the evening, I ate some smoked salmon and drank a small glass of wine.”
