Nikos Androulakis opens the Movement’s information campaign on the ever-increasing housing crisis in Greece
With a video posted on social media, the President of PASOK-Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis opens the Movement’s information campaign on the ever-increasing housing crisis in Greece.
“The cumulative rent increase during the first four years of the New Republic government was 50%. 72% of tenants give more than 40% of their income on rent!” notes Nikos Androulakis.
“Families, young couples, students are driven to a dead end and at the same time the government allows whole blocks of buildings to be converted into hotels without the restrictions imposed by other large European cities, and continues policies such as the golden visa, which already in other European countries with corresponding problems, it either freezes or is removed,” he adds.
“PASOK-Change Movement has presented concrete proposals for a social housing program, measures to de-escalate rents and of course the full cancellation or even suspension of the golden visa. So that the right to housing ceases to be considered a luxury,” concludes Mr. Androulakis.
