He played football with Bob Marley, admired the Sistine Chapel with David Bowie, was mentored by Mick Jagger. These particular stories and many others are recounted in his memoirs by the PR manager, Alan Edwards.

The book “I Was There: Dispatches from a Life in Rock and Roll” is a first-person account by Edwards, “The Godfather of Modern Music PR,” detailing his colorful life and all the musicians he met and worked with along the way.

The book from Simon & Schuster, which will be released on June 6, 2024, follows Edwards’ career from the London punk scene in the 70s through his collaborations with Bowie and his move into pop with the Spice Girls.

Edwards is the founder and CEO of The Outside Organization, a public relations firm.which represents music, football, charities and members of the UK royal family.

In his 45-year career he has worked personally with musical legends such as David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney, Prince, Amy Winehouse and the Who, Blondie, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones.
