Today, February 22, in 1973, the iconic actress of theater and cinema passed away Katina Paxinos. He has gone down in history for the comfort and authority with which he embodied a wide range of completely different roles between classical and modern drama, the dynamism and directness with which he approached the core of each character on stage and above all for her contribution to the modern approach to ancient drama.
The early years
Katina Konstantopoulou was born on December 15, 1900, in Piraeus, the fourth child of Vasilis Konstantopoulos and Eleni Malandrinou. Having studied music in Geneva, Vienna and Berlin, she initially participated as a singer in concerts for charity purposes, while her first appearance in the theater was in May 1920, when she starred in Dimitris Mitropoulos’s melodrama “Beatriki”.

In 1928 he was hired by the troupe of Marika Kotopoulis with whom he participated in the performance “The Naked Woman” by Henri Bataille, together with Kotopoulis and Alexis Minoti.
