The star of the new Netflix series, One Day – the adaptation of David Nicholls’ best-selling 2009 novel – is everywhere right now.

Having come to prominence as a charming rogue in the second season of The White Lotus, 2022, Leo Woodall’s role as Dexter Mayhew in One Day is what really put him on the map. Speaking about the role which has earned him over 595,000 followers on Instagram, Leo told the Guardian “I’m trying to manage it”.

Leo was born in London on September 14, 1996, and is 27 years old. He attended the Arts Educational School in Chiswick and currently lives in north London with his brother. He comes from a family of actors and his dad Andrew Woodall recently appeared on Channel 4’s The Couple Next Door.

Leo went to drama school when he was 19 years old. In interviews, he has said that he was surprised to join the cast of The White Lotus since he was a relatively unknown actor.

While away on the set of The White Lotus, Leo auditioned for the role of Dexter Mayhew (admitting that he had not read the book before the audition, but had watched the 2011 film starring Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway) . Whatever he did, it sure paid off. In June 2022, he was cast as Dexter opposite Ambika Mod.

For those who have seen Leo in both The White Lotus and One Day, the actor admits he looks more like dapper boy Dexter Mayhew than Essex boy Jack in real life.

What movies and series has Leo Woodall starred in?

Leo made his acting debut in 2019, in the short film Man Down. He has also starred in Tom Holland’s crime drama Cherry, as well as Amazon’s spy drama Citadel. Leo also appeared in the film Nomad while playing Adrian Ivashkov in Vampire Academy.

However, Leo triumphs as Dexter Mayhew in the television adaptation of the novel One Day. He follows in the footsteps of Jim Sturgess, who played the character in the 2011 film adaptation, which was met with mixed reviews. The Netflix adaptation, however, was met with a slew of five-star reviews.

What is Leo’s next project?

Leo Woodall has been announced as the lead in Prime Target, an Apple TV+ thriller starring Black Adam star Quintessa Swindell. The series is about a young maths graduate, Edward Brooke, who discovers the secret of prime numbers. Ridley Scott serves as an executive producer and is created by Sherlock writer Steve Thompson.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live the day after the show premiered on Netflix, Leo talked about how they managed to age him twenty years throughout filming and what it was like using “awkward phones” and “typewriters” to convey in the 90s to be exact.

Is Leo Woodall in a relationship with Meghann Fahy?

The good thing about being on a super hit TV show full of famous actors is that you might end up dating one of them. That’s exactly what happened for Leo when he met The White Lotus co-star Meghann Fahy on set in Sicily, Italy.

Shortly after the second season of The White Lotus aired, rumors began to circulate that Leo was dating his co-star Meghann (who plays Daphne), and in November 2023 these rumors were confirmed. The pair were spotted walking around London together, with pictures of them kissing under an umbrella and appearing in each other’s photos.

Two weeks after One Day was released on Netflix, Meghann made their relationship official on Instagram by posting a cute photo of the pair walking arm in arm. Leo playfully commented, “who is it?!” While fans wrote jokingly, “he saw us ‘thirsty’ for him and had to clear things up.”
