Simon Leviev, 31, who gained notoriety with the documentary “The Tinder Hustler” (Netflix), has signed a contract with a Hollywood talent agent. The Israeli, who allegedly tricked several women into giving him money, is the scammer that the film’s title refers to.
According to TMZ, he will be represented by Gina Rodriguez, who manages the careers of several reality TV stars in Los Angeles. Among her agencies are Mama June, from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”, which was successful in several countries, including Brazil.
Among the possibilities envisioned for Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut, are writing a book, hosting a relationship podcast and starring on a dating show with women vying for him. The idea is to make the most of the fame gained, even if it is not exactly positive.
In the Netflix documentary, released on February 2, Leviev is accused of cheating on women he knew through the dating app Tinder. The victims say that he pretended to be the heir of a diamond mine owner and squandered wealth, but then asked for money to escape supposed enemies who were chasing him after having his accounts blocked.
In 2019, Hayut spent nine months in Israel for deceiving women, who gave him money after they believed he was in danger. Earlier, he had also been arrested in Finland for the same reason, as well as being detained in Greece on a false passport.
“The Tinder Scam” has been at the top of Netflix’s most watched productions for two weeks. The platform revealed to Variety that it is already working to adapt the documentary into a feature film.
