Japanese manga creator Akira Toriyama, known for very popular comics such as “Dragon Ball” and “Dr. Slump”died on March 1, aged 68, of an acute subdural hematoma, his publishing house, Shueisha, announced today.
“Dragon Ball,” which first appeared in 1984 in the Weekly Shonen Jump comic magazine, was later adapted into movies, video games, and TV series, selling well in more than 80 countries.

Toriyama was also known as a character and monster designer in the very successful ‘Dragon Quest’ role-playing game series.
