The municipal radio station “ATHENA 9.84”, will broadcast from Kallimarmaro (10:00-14:00) with live journalistic coverage for this day, useful discussions and music and with the aim of informing the residents of Athens about issues related to gender equality.
The municipality of Athens is organizing a series of actions to raise awareness and strengthen empathy in the field of gender equality, thus honoring International Women’s Day.
At the City Hall, it will meet the new Municipal Commission for Equalitywith the participation of the mayor of Athens Haris Doukas.
The action plan of the municipal Authority for the prevention and treatment of sexual harassment in the workplace for the period 2024-2026 will be presented to the Commission.
In the Municipal Market of Kypseli, the Department of Equality and Anti-Discrimination Policies and the Department of Preventive Medicine, Health Promotion and Public Health of the municipality of Athens, will proceed from 11 am to 2 pm, in the distribution of informational material on issues of preventive medicine and treatment of gender discrimination in health.

End, on Monday 11/3 and Tuesday 12/3, in collaboration with the Theater Choros (Botanikos), women and other femininities addressed to the Center for Combating Gender-Based Violence and Multiple Discrimination, will have the opportunity to attend the theatrical performance “The House with Gifts” for free, where three women they share their heart-wrenching stories and deal with their traumas.
In a post on his personal Facebook page, Mr Harry Doukas wrote: “International Women’s Day is a precious opportunity to join our voices against gender-based violence. Let’s overturn stereotypes with the goal of a fairer society. It is up to us to create the conditions for every woman to enjoy respect and equal participation. The new Equality Committee of the Municipality of Athens is meeting today at City Hall, while Technopoli is organizing a series of awareness-raising actions”.
The program at Technopolis includes discussions, speeches by scientists and experts, screenings of short films, parallel information and awareness activities, but also visual activities, performances and exhibitions during the three days 8-10/3.
