Brad Pitt Says Angelina Secretly Sold Her Interest in Winery

by

Brad Pitt, 57, says Angelina Jolie, 46, cheated on him by secretly selling his stake in a winery to a Russian oligarch and is now suing his ex-wife to undo the deal. The information was released this Thursday (17) by TMZ, which had access to legal documents.

The two purchased Chateau Miraval in Correns, France, in 2008. Brad says he has invested a lot of money and time in the winery over the years, although he acknowledges that Angelina shelled out 40% of the $28.4 million purchase price. 146 million)

Brad said he single-handedly made the winery successful because in 2013 she wasn’t taking care of it. He claims they always had the agreement that neither of them could sell their stake without the other’s consent.

Since last year, Pitt has been suing Angelina for trying to get him out of a deal to sell shares in the former couple’s vineyard. In the suit, he says she is “vindictive” and to blame for “systematic obstruction”, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the lawsuit, the vineyard is owned by Quimicum, a company in which Pitt owns 60 percent, through his other company Mondo Bongo, while Jolie held 40 percent through her company, Nouvel.

Jolie owns 40% of the shares of Quimicum. But three years before the split, the actor equalized their power as shareholders, transferring 10% of Mongo Bongo’s shares to Nouvel.

The actor’s defense alleges that Jolie is trying to cash in on the “incredible amount of work, time and money” invested by Pitt and his business partners in growing the brand.

“It is worth mentioning that, in the last four years, the Nouvel [empresa de Jolie] did not act in Quimicum’s best interest by systematically delaying the approval of the annual accounts and the renewal of the administrator,” the lawsuit reads.

The winery was once considered the couple’s retreat. They met on the spot on the set of “Mr. and Mrs Smith” (2004), when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Anniston. Now, the winery is yet another property that the couple disputes in their divorce. According to the lawsuit, the vineyard is valued at more than €140 million.

In July last year, Jolie had filed a lawsuit to end all business partnerships she still has with her ex-husband. According to TMZ, the Hollywood star wants to leave the actor as soon as possible.

One of the partnerships she wants to undo is the French winery that they both own. TMZ says that Pitt’s lawyers would like to proceed with the process amicably, without involving the court in this.

However, Jolie wanted to expedite the purchase of the winery and filed a petition on July 6th asking a judge to remove the temporary restraining order from her assets, which was put into effect when the divorce was filed.

This practice is common in US justice and prevents the parties involved from making financial decisions that could harm the other during the separation process. Despite being legally divorced since 2018, Jolie and Pitt have yet to reach an agreement over their assets and custody of their children.

The actress’ request came after a person became interested in buying the property. “After all these years of trying to get out of being her ex-husband’s business partnership on acceptable financial terms, Ms. Jolie is extremely keen to close the pending deal for the sale of Nouvel, LLC,” Jolie’s attorneys said. .

The French winery was purchased by the couple in 2011, for US$ 60 million (R$ 351 million at the current price). The artist’s team claims that the property was exclusively hers, as it was purchased before her wedding, which took place in 2014.
