A second photograph of Queen Elizabeth II with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren has been flagged as “digitally manipulated”, following the controversial editing of a photo of Kate Middleton with her children. The photo agency Guetty Images pointed out some errors.
The photo, taken at Balmoral in August 2022, and released by Buckingham Palace on April 21 last year to mark what would have been the late Queen’s 97th birthday, shows Elizabeth surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An agency spokesperson said the image was reviewed and received an editor’s note, which attests to digital manipulation of the original photo.
Among the errors highlighted by Guetty and CNN are a vertical line in the print on the late Queen’s skirt, which does not match the pattern, a dark shadow behind Prince Louis’ ear and a similar small black patch behind the collar of the Prince’s shirt. George.
The light on the right arm of James, Earl of Wessex, is inconsistent with the lighting in the photo. The lighting on the right side of Savannah Phillips’ head is inconsistent. Her hair is also cut and there is a misalignment in the crook of her elbow. The horizontal edge of the piano and the space between the two frames also appear blurred.
Buckingham Palace has not yet commented on the photo.
