Heraklion is a tourist town that, due to its characteristics, is able to equally satisfy both the thousands of visitors it receives every year and its permanent residents, finding a balance between fresh ideas and stable culinary values.

Since 1924, the historical “Sarantauga” coffee shop has been operating in the market of Heraklion. A point of reference for visitors and locals today, it is in the hands of two young children who, while maintaining the character of the cafe, have added their own culinary touches.

The next stop of this tour is “Athali”, a special business of the Samaritis family specializing in the recipes of the mansions of the island. Originally from Sfakia and with a great love for good food, the family has the secrets for the perfect “antichrist”!

The sweetest stop is “Gloria”, one of the most classic and favorite pastry shops of Heraklion. Famous for the galaktobourek in individual rolls, the triangles filled with anthotyro, the colorful macarons and the delicious pastas.

The tour of Heraklion, Crete ends with a stop at “Yousouro”, a beautiful little shop in the area of ​​Halicarnassus that has been offering fresh seafood and fish in the most delicious recipes for 22 years. Baked, fried, boiled with the velvety skin standing out.
