Olivia Colman criticized gender pay disparities in the film industry and stated that he would be paid more if he were a man, arguing that the disparity is rooted in the outdated idea that male actors attract audiences.

Talking about her latest film, “Wicked Little Letters,” the Oscar-winning actress said that gender limits her earning potential. “Research shows that women have always been big ‘grossing successes'”he told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.

“Don’t get me started on the pay gap, but male actors get paid more because they used to say they attract audiences and in reality, that hasn’t been the case for decades. But they still want to use that as a reason not to pay women as well.

I know very well that if I were Oliver Colman, I would earn a lot more than I do as a woman.”the actress added.

It’s not the first time Colman has highlighted a gender disparity. Speaking to the Radio Times last month, the actress said: “If a woman swears, people are shocked. Women are people – funny, dirty, loving, caring – just like men.”

Colman won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in the film “The Favorite”. She received a second nomination for the same award in 2022 for her role in The Lost Daughter alongside her Wicked Little Letters co-star Jessie Buckley.

This month, Forbes named Adam Sandler as the highest paid actor for 2023 after grossing 73 million dollars after the success of his Netflix movie, Murder Mystery 2.
