Star of “Black Widow”, released in 2021 by Marvel, Scarlett Johanson, 39, said she was rejected by some Hollywood directors. She even listed the names of the films as “Operation Cupid” (1999) and “Millennium: The Men Who Didn’t Love Women” 2009), in a recent interview.
“I was too old for that movie when I auditioned. And maybe when the movie came out I was also a little too old to see it,” Johansson explained when talking about “Operation Cupid” to The Things.
Director Nancy Meyers chose Lindsay Lohan to star in the new version of the story about two twins, separated at birth, who are reunited years later. At the time, Lindsay was a young actress, until then little known, who broke out soon after with the productions “Freaky Friday” (2003) and “Mean Girls” (2004).
Scarlett also said that she lost the role played by Lisbeth Salander in “Millennium: The Men Who Didn’t Love Women”, a production that she even regretted being left out of: “I really wanted to be in that film because I felt like I could contribute, but I think David Fincher [diretor] I had something different in mind.”
Apple released the official trailer for the film “How to Sell the Moon”, starring Johansson and Channing Tatum. The film is set during the space race in the 1960s and features the actress in the role of a marketing executive hired by NASA to film a fake moon landing in case the real mission fails. In Brazil, the film will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
