H Nymphia Wind from Taiwan was crowned on Friday “Next Drag Superstar» in the internationally recognized competition RuPaul’s Drag Race made in America – something like global beauty pageant for drag queens.

After weeks of sensational performances in various rounds of the competition, Nymphia Wind, dressed in a glittering banana dress, emerged as the ultimate winner and wore the crown.

Nymphia Wind is Taiwan’s first drag queen who participated in the show – which has been held every year since 2009 – and the first Asian winner of the competition. Only seven Asian drag queens have reached the top four since 2009.

The victory of 28-year-old Nymphia Wind was celebrated by Taiwan and was even welcomed by the country’s president Tsai Ing-wen, who expressed her congratulations.
