Ed Motta’s criticism of certain artists, cultural expressions or groups of people seems to be a cyclical phenomenon, which brings him back to social media from time to time.
After taking the piss out of Raul Seixas, rock in general and the Brazilians who go to his shows abroad, the musician —who claims to be an expert in wines, jazz, cigars, tea and truffles from Piedmont— decided to go after those who likes hip hop.
“I’m not white, I’m black, but I represent the most sophisticated of the race. Anyone who listens to hip hop is stupid. Anyone,” he said, repeating the phrase a few times. “No exception.” He also classified comedian Rafinha Bastos as “a fool and an imbecile”. “The other day, I saw an excerpt from an interview with Rafinha Bastos: ‘Ah, because hip hop is the type of music I like to listen to the most’. The guy is an idiot.”
Motta said that intelligent people listen to jazz and classical music. On social media, the comment did not catch on. Lumena, ex-BBB 21, made fun of the speech. “Making a hip hop remix of Ed Motta’s song ‘Colombina’…”, she wrote in a post.
“You can’t hate Ed Motta, he’s very funny, everything he says seems like a hallucination”, said the profile @Mu540.
